Netgear Nighthawk RAX40 AX3000 Router RAX40-100AUS review

Netgear Nighthawk AX4 router: While it may be the cheapest way to upgrade to a next-gen router, it's still hard to recommend

Faster than 802.11ac; Cheaper than current alternatives

Not as fast as the competition; Only dual-band; No MU-MIMO

Netgear Nighthawk RAX40 AX3000 Router RAX40-100AUS review

A new era of Wi-Fi connectivity is already underway. The software and hardware are already developed, while 5G and Wi-Fi 6 are being implemented across the globe. But while this is happening, many people are still using older generations of router equipment.

Netgear Nighthawk AX4 review

New 802.11ax routers are still expensive, and their new features probably aren’t essential for most home users at the moment, so the Nighthawk AX4 isn’t a ‘must-have’ upgrade just yet. But if your current router is struggling with a home full of connected devices it’s worth investing in a more versatile and future-proof router that can handle dozens of devices in modern connected homes.

Wifi keeps dropping out

I was really excited when i bought this product but there were problems from the get go. The wifi connection speed for 2.4Ghz is rated at a measly 300mbps for wireless AC (Wifi 5) and is has a very slow network speed when connected to it. Webpages fail to load at times, and there are fluctuations in real world download speed. After i set up the router, the range and connection speed reduced drastically. Overall, i am very disappointed with the product

Just weird

I purchased just over a month ago, not to replace a router but to add on. Since its had constant problems of authentification errors on all devices every few days requiring a reset, the lights on reset flash red like something has gone wrong while booting and then suddenly everything is green. It worked very well while it was up and running although the constant authentication problems with devices is a big problem. I shouldnt have to reboot the thing every 3 days.

Terrible Router

First of all, this router comes with the WAN port (internet connection) disabled by default. Why would anyone ever want that? Secondly, after 3 hours of trying to get this to work on my own, with Netgear, and my ISP, none of us could get it to work with my NBN HFC connection. This may improve with firmware updates down the track, but as for now, do not buy this router

Awesome router

This router is awesome and the range even better. I got this when NBN HFC was installed in my house. I used to have 2 routers in my house to get coverage from front to back (and it worked OK, not great). After installing this router (at the back of my house where the modem connections) I get full strength signal and speeds on my front lawn, as if I was standing right next to the router. Easy setup and future proof with Wifi6

Waste of Money. Don’t buy this product.

Wifi keeps dropping off and SSID disappears. Needs a manual restart to get it going. A week or two, the problem starts again. This product is such a headache. Best to stay away from it.

Okay until Firmware updates ruined it

This device initially worked very well; then firmware updated turned it into.. a steaming pile of? I have sold multiple units, and all have the same fate, frequent slowdowns requiring reboots; some where the DHCP stops working, some where all client access stops working until reboot. I would not recommend this unit due to the introduced problems.
