Netatmo Welcome Smart Home Camera

Netatmo is best known for its Urban Weather Station, an elegant - albeit pricey - solution for monitoring indoor and outdoor weather conditions, so we were a bit surprised when we saw the company branching out at CES this year with the introduction of its Welcome ($200), a new home monitoring and...

Netatmo Welcome

There's a been a glut of smart home-security cameras enter the market of late, and the Netatmo Welcome is leading the charge. Like its rivals, the Netatmo monitors your home, and records and sends you alerts when something happens.

Clever face-recognition tech; No subscription fees; IFTTT channel; Easy-to-use app; Excellent privacy controls

Can't turn off light; No cloud storage

Netatmo Welcome Review

The Netatmo Welcome camera is a reliable and easy-to-use home-security device with a convenient mobile app.

Compact; understated presence; Quick setup; User-friendly app; Useful facial recognition; Custom user profiles

Piercing alerts; Over-sensitive motion detection; Numerous false alerts initially

Initial set up involves linking the device to your wireless network before positioning it where it can easily see people as they enter your home. Unfortunately, it can't be wall mounted which means it has to be placed on a flat surface which might not suit some users and the layout of their homes.

Review: Netatmo Welcome

The Tomorrow Children is a massive departure for developer Q-Games, who are best known for their PixelJunk series of games as addicting and stylish romps, are here with an entirely new endeavour and it's nothing like they've done before. The whole premise behind the game is a resource gathering...

It's a nice looking piece of tech; Facial Recognition; Easy Setup

Placement issues; Sometimes would not recognize me

Netatmo Welcome Indoor Security Camera review

I reviewed the Netatmo Presence Outdoor Security camera a few months ago and really, REALLY enjoy using it because it uses deep learning to tell the differences between people, animals, cars, and other motions thus virtually eliminating unnecessary motion detection alerts.

Recordings are 1080p; Facial recognition fairly accurate; Records only videos we deem important; No subscription fees - records videos locally and to my Dropbox account (or personal FTP server if I had one

Did not always send notifications when one of us passed in front of the camera; One-way audio

Netatmo Welcome review

There are lots of security cameras aimed at home users, but the Netatmo Welcome was the first that could recognise faces. There's now the Nest Cam IQ , but that costs a lot more and requires you to pay a subscription to enable most of the features.
