Pokemon + monster hunter

This is a great monster collecting game with an addictive gameplay loop. if you like pokemon but found the series a bit stale or too easy this is definitely a game for you. No prior knowledge of monster hunter or the previous stories game required as its tutorial is very comprehensive and woven into the story. It certainly does help if you love monster hunter and always wanted to ride some of your favourite monsters.

Pokemonster Hunter

Very enjoyable JRPG and a great introduction to many of the monsters in the Monster Hunter franchise.

A good monster hunter game with the Pokemon twist.

What a surprise, this monster hunter sub series managed to catch the essence of both the mainline title and the Pokemon catch and collect game play. The Rock paper scissors turn based combat may seem to be lack of depths, however, I kept being surprise by how good the combat system in depth and fun. The only draw back would be the unstable frame rate on switch system.

Great game with a few flaws

It’s a wonderfully designed game with a great story ,which sadly ends up being a bit rushed, and great variation in the monster you can catch. Although I think this game is amazing I would still recommend trying the demo.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin review: A less intimidating hunt

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is the perfect entry point for newcomers to the series. No, really. That statement has become a bit of a meme in recent years as Monster Hunter fans paint each new release as “accessible.” Monster Hunter Rise came close to making that a reality, but the franchise’s cornerstone complexity and headache-inducing interface still make it an intimidating experience for total newbies. By comparison, Monster Hunter Stories 2 is much more digestible. It features many of the same basics, but presented in a simplified manner that’s easier to parse. Even though it’s a completely different experience — a turn-based, Pokémon-like RPG instead of a hacking-and-slashing action game — it explains the fundamentals of the franchise much clearer than Monster Hunter World or Rise. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a friendly alternative to the franchise’s usual grind. Even with some repetitive level design, it offers up an excellent combat system, a compellin...

Addictive monster collecting; Excellent RPG combat; Deep customization; Tons of content;

Frame rate stutters; Repetitive maps;

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin (for Nintendo Switch) Review

Monster Hunter is an action game series with RPG elements that focuses on complex, tactical fights with huge monsters, and then using those monsters’ parts to craft and upgrade armor and weapons to fight even bigger, more dangerous monsters. The series emphasizes deliberate skillful action that runs light on plot, so you wouldn’t expect to see a turn-based, JRPG, spin-off. Yet, Capcom subverted expectations with the Nintendo 3DS' Monster Hunter Stories, and demonstrated that Monster Hunter can be a compelling JRPG with a healthy injection of Pokemon-like creature collecting. It was received well enough that Capcom made a sequel, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. This $59.99 Nintendo Switch game (also available on PC) follows a similar path as the first game, just in a bigger, prettier world with more monsters to fight and collect. Ride, Don't Hunt Instead of a titular monster hunter, you play a monster rider, an adventurer who lives in the same world as hunters, but has ...

Monster Hunter Stories 2 sits at the intersection of the Monster Hunter series' action and the JRPG genre's turn-based battles, and will please fans of both.

Thoughtfully complex battle mechanics; Familiar monsters and equipment; A bright and colorful world; Many side missions

Basic, formulaic story; Slow co-op quests
