Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop

We all know that manufacturers typically focus on making their ‘hero' devices as glamourous as possible, but Microsoft's decided to spread the love, sprinkling some stardust on its Bluetooth keyboard and mouse set. Costing £99, it comprises a mighty attractive keyboard and mouse combo.

Excellent build quality and design; Keyboard includes number pad; Good battery life; Windows; OS X and Android

Small mouse; Limited features

Good quality and very portable bluetooth mouse.

I bought this mouse to use with my laptop whilst out and about as I needed something portable. I bought this as it seemed to be one of the slimmest available and of a good brand. Pros: It's easy to connect for first use and is generally very quick to reconnect thereafter.

No Win 7 Support

I really like this mouse by its design only to find out it does not work on win 7 after using it on my win 10 for a while. Really a disappointment. No trust for Microsoft products.

Simple, elegant design

I would recommend it to anyone who wanted a simple, elegant keyboard mouse set for a computer with bluetooth built-in and for whom replaceable batteries are acceptable. Probably an especially good choice as an alternative to Apple keyboards on a newish iMac -- good design, compact, but with a more...

The design is simple and elegant; The mouse is somewhat flat; The keyboard is full-size, but pretty small for a keyboard in that category-- not at all bulky as some are; This is a Bluetooth 4.0 product and so uses a low-power protocol enabled in 4.0.

The keyboard is not backlit, which some rechargeable bluetooth keyboards are; This keyboard has replaceable batteries; This is a Bluetooth 4.0 product; There's no bluetooth dongle included.

Beautiful but it has a problem

Beautiful but it has a problem, since it doesnt have the small usb receiver, the bluetooth connection is not reliable. I could accept the fact that it bugs for a really short amount of time (0.5sec) because it looks good, but now it doesnt work anymore. It even says that its connected.

Sleep function is a problem

I use on OS X and the mouse and keyboard have an in-built sleep function that is nothing but problematic. Once it does wake up, there's often a delay from hitting a key/moving the mouse. Virtually unusable. For the price, I should have bought Apple. Would have taken back only I lost the receipt.

A Constant Pain

I bought this a few days ago and I am going to return it because every time I turn my computer on I have to re-pair it with my computer in order for it to work, or when my computer goes idle i have to go through the whole process again. Its too much. I would rather just have a chord. No fuss.

Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop Keyboard & Mouse Set

Looks nice, but has a bug with all the media keys that causes the keyboard to freeze. Bug has existed since May with no fix from Microsoft in sight. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/media-keys-doesnt-work-on-microsoft-design/15021270-fd88-4dac-b2b7-0b54afe2c12d

Microsoft has been in the input devices game since the early 1980s. From the first chunky, wired Microsoft mouse to the modern design of the Bluetooth Desktop, they've done a lot in the area. Today, the Designer Bluetooth Desktop takes a minimalistic approach to both the keyboard and mouse.
