So MK8D in a nutshell? Nintendo’s kept the original’s many good bits and gotten rid of its few missteps. It really is that simple as well. The only reason Switch owners shouldn’t buy this game is if they’ve already played all of it to death. Anyone who skipped over Mario Kart 8’s DLC will still find plenty that’s new here and the same goes for those who’ve spent the best part of three years aching for a proper Battle Mode. I've spent countless hours playing this with the mates on Wii U, and the Switch version is even better. Native 1080p at 60fps looks incredible, the new battle mode is good fun, and online lobbies are easier to come by. The fact that Only 2 sets of joycon are needed for 4 players is convenient if there is already another switch in the house too!

Mario Kart 8 was already a great game on the Wii U. Now on the Nintendo Switch it's even better. Bringing everything from the previous games into one package and putting it on a new system was a great call.

A hallmark of excellence. It may have some flaws, but they are negligible to what is otherwise a supreme title.

It takes some guts to launch a port of a game in your previous generation as a big release on your shiny new console, but that's exactly what Nintendo have done. Many a gamer never got to play the fantastic Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U.
