Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch is a no-brainer for fans and/or Switch owners - easily the best version of Mario Kart released to date on any platform and yet another killer app for Nintendo's fledgling hardware.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes the best game in the series and improves it. It looks better, plays better, the soundtrack remains an utter joy and the inclusion of a fully-featured and fiendishly fun Battle Mode is the cherry on top.

There's a temptation for me to just throw a pasted list of new features, then in the largest font the site will allow just put "this game is amazing, bye" and run away to start playing it again. Mario

During the Nintendo Switch reveal video in late 2016, a Mario Kart 8 release was hinted as the game was shown being played with Switch Joy-cons. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was soon announced as a port from the Wii U, in what Nintendo calls the definitive edition of the game.

The very first time I booted up Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I made it halfway through my first lap before being interrupted by a screaming baby in my house. My infant son was hungry, so I undocked my Nintendo Switch and took it with me to my rocking chair as I fed him.

Huge amount of content; Battle mode; Holding two items at once creates great new strategies; Perfectly suited for bite-sized on-the-go sessions in handheld mode or multiplayer parties in TV mode

Odd implementation of drive assist; Not really any innovative new content

Fantastic fun and even neat. Fun with so many courses. And cool tracks. Also fun that it is cheaper to buy in Nintendo eShop than in any store. Love to have all games digitally. :)

It's just a fun, simple racing game. Perfect for someone looking for a good multiplayer game for their Switch.

So MK8D in a nutshell? Nintendo’s kept the original’s many good bits and gotten rid of its few missteps. It really is that simple as well. The only reason Switch owners shouldn’t buy this game is if they’ve already played all of it to death. Anyone who skipped over Mario Kart 8’s DLC will still find plenty that’s new here and the same goes for those who’ve spent the best part of three years aching for a proper Battle Mode. I feel this game deserves 5 stars, but I have dropped 1 star due to the lack of instructions on how to split the joycons so you can play 2 player with one each… For anyone wondering how Todo this, go into a multiplayer game, when the control prompt shows up press flip your joycon sideways and press both SL + SR at the same time, repeat this with the second joycon and you should be set To revert back to a single control press L + R at the same time in the control menu

Mario Kart 8 is a fun casual racing game but local multiplayer is pretty taxing without a joycon wheel. Not really happy to spend over $70 for this ‘everything unlocked’ rerelease of MK8.
