Mad Max Review

Releasing a movie tie-in game usually goes one of two ways: either it's a rush job thrown out with the movie to get some quick bucks, or the developer actually has the time it needs, regardless off th

Harpoon gun is brilliant; Visually stunning at times; On-foot combat is great

Story is a bit dull; Car combat won't be for everyone

Mad Fun

I have a reputation for liking the 'underdog' games. Alpha Protocol, Rise of the Argonauts, Spartacus, Enslaved, The Saboteur, DOA Beach Volleyball, the Way of the Samurai series, Conan, the Prince of Persia reboot... I scored all above 8.0. I even managed to enjoy the oft-maligned Colonial Marines.

Mad Max review

I certainly feel Mad Max will go down as one of the most underrated and underplayed games of 2015. It's far from perfect and design issues can severely hinder the experience, but I like how Avalanche Studios has created a game brimming with life, ironically within a world that is hostile towards the...

+ Rewarding commitment to survival; + Car combat is confronting and satisfying; + Harsh landscape with moments of beauty

- Mission design sometimes lacks clarity; - Task of scavenging might become tiresome for some; - Horrible framerate drops

Mad Max

"In a world gone mad. Only the savage survive." These are the words of Mad Max 's developers Avalanche Studios . As such, it sets up what should be an epic romp in a post-apocalyptic world full of rich, colourful and nuanced characters.

Beautiful landscapes and environments; Great driving gameplay; Interesting vehicle designs

Boring protagonist; Fighting mechanics buggy; Mini-games not immersive

Review: Mad Max

Mad Max is a mish-mash of ideas from some of the best games released in recent years, but it doesn't do anything as well as those games. Still, there's fun to be had here with Max's journey through the Wasteland, just don't expect to want to come back when you're done.

Mad Max

There's a peculiar dilemma with turning Mad Max into a video game. As so many others have been inspired by the series, we've already ventured across several post-apocalyptic wastelands with bandits at every turn and villages made of scrap.

Mad Max review – Fallout on?wheels

Some of the best car chases in recent gaming memory and a stunning post-apocalyptic world, although when Max gets out of his car he becomes more mediocre than mad.

The open world looks amazing, and the car handling and physics allow for an endless array of excitingly ad hoc car chases; The harpoon weapon is especially versatile and fun

The on-foot action, particularly the combat, is very ordinary and its adherence to the Ubisoft formula painfully obvious; Awful looking character graphics

In many respects, Mad Max: Fury Road is quite linear - a straightforward chase movie that deviates little in terms of sub-plots. Mad Max the game does pretty much the opposite.

Mad Max

In the 'Mad Max' series, society has disintegrated after an enigmatic global conflict. In the ruins of Australia, sadistic road gangs have established themselves as the dominant life form, with few having the means to stop them.
