I have tried out more a dozen Logitech mice since the 1990s and I must say, the latest versions today seem to miss some of the design finesse that the famed mouse maker is known for.
The Logitech G502 Proteus Core Tunable Gaming Mouse is definitely a great option for PC gamers!
After sending time with the G502 I can now see why Logitech changed things up and gave the G502 a name. The G502 is a special mouse that will most likely set the tone for Logitech mice years to come. Given its amazing performance in basically every aspect I can't really be upset about that either.
The Logitech G502 Proteus Core is what the company calls the first Tunable Gaming Mouse, so what does a tunable mouse do? The G502 tunable feature refers to the fact that this is the only gaming mouse that can be calibrated for any surface area, by simply setting it up.
My previous mouse was also a logitech gaming mouse (MX 518) which I owned for about 10 years - finally it needed to be replaced because it kept disconnecting intermittently. It was my favorite mouse because it felt very smooth and easy to use.
I bought this mouse as a gift for my nephew. This is the exact mouse that he asked for. He was VERY specific! Walmart.com had it in stock at a very good price through one of their online partners. I had it shipped to my home. It arrived quickly and in good shape. My nephew is very pleased with it.
I recently was lucky enough to get a refurbished unit of the mouse and I love it. Very nice mouse, extremely smooth and ergonomic. High quality and like any Logitech hardware it will surely last for years. Check the youtube reviews to see it in action. Can not say anything bad about it!
I've owned the original G502 before and have loved it ever since. My last one had some problems though (scroll wheel problems) so I decided to buy another G502 as it is a great mouse for gaming and casual use.
Good build quality, with various buttons that can be reprogrammed as macro keys; The smooth scroll button is a plus when you want to move down a page fast; The clicking on this mouse is fantastic, not mushy at all; Textured rubber on both sides provide extra grip; Great sensor as well
Has adjustable weights, but without the weights the mouse is still one of the heaviest mice i've ever used; The textured rubber collects dirt easily and can be somewhat hard to clean
It's great to see a company take a nearly perfect product and iron out its last remaining kinks. The Logitech G500s was a top-notch all-purpose gaming mouse, but its successor, the Logitech G502 Proteus Core, surpasses it in every way.
Intuitive and comfortable design; Big buttons in a smart layout; Streamlined software with lots of options; Ultrafine weight adjustment; Improved scroll wheel
May not suit palm-grip players with big hands
I'm awarding the Logitech G502 Proteus Core our performance award due to its outstanding execution throughout our gaming tasks.
