Vive brings augmented reality to the HTC Vive Pro

Vive has added a whole new element to its latest Virtual Reality headset, in the form of augmented reality. With the development of Vive's 'SRWorks SDK' software – still in the early access testing phase – the premium VR headset is able to overlay images onto real scenes using its dual front-mounted...

Improved specs; Exceptional comfort; Simple Setup; Best VR headset in 2018

Expensive; High PC spec demands; Not enough improvements

HTC Vive Pro

Just seen Ready Player One and gagging for a simple route into the world of virtual reality Then throw your bank details at another headset – the Vive Pro is not for you.

perfect

ordered all the way from Saudi Arabia, the shipment took less than estimated and the customer support were kind and fast, the Vive pro itself works great I would order more stuff in the future.

HTC Vive Pro review: Virtual reality without the rough, blurry edges

At $799 for just the headset, the HTC Vive Pro is probably destined to remain a niche product.

Increased resolution; You can finally read text, Counterweight offsets the display, Folds in the rigid design and headphones from last year's Deluxe...

Expensive; even for VR; Built-in headphones are fine; but not as impressive as HTC touts; Counterweight sticks out a bunch and can make seated VR...

HTC Vive Pro review

The HTC Vive Pro is the VR headset successor to the first Vive . The Oculus Rift rival launched almost two years ago and since then the focus has been on making minor upgrades to enhance that VR experience.

Slightly easier to setup; Great addition of integrated headphones; Improved resolution

Doesn't include controllers/wireless adaptor; Also lacks new base stations; Still mighty expensive

HTC Vive Pro Review

Incredible -- and incredibly expensive -- the Vive Pro sets a new standard of quality for virtual reality.

High resolution; Improved comfort; Solid build; Expansive software and game library; Hassle-free setup

Extremely high price for full setup; Controllers; sensors not included; Cable still gets in the way

HTC Vive Pro review

While resolution will surely win the lion's share of the recognition, HTC has made a number of fantastic design choices on the Vive Pro that rival the resolution in terms of importance.

Improved visual fidelity; Built-in headphones; Gradually improving game library

Price isn't absolutely justified; Jitteriness with all non-new hardware; There's still no must-own title

HTC Vive Pro

And if you want an accessible way to try the high-quality experience of tethered VR without worrying about your computer specs, the PlayStation VR with a PlayStation 4 or PS4 Pro remains our Editors' Choice for its ease of use and variety of content, even if it's a step or two behind the Vive and...

Crisp, high-resolution graphics; Good sound; Solid, comfortable build

Expensive; Doesn't include the base stations or motion controllers it requires to function; DisplayPort only

The Vive Pro's name and $800 price (headset only) tells you exactly who this VR headset is for. It's not for newbies looking to dip their toes into the expansive world of VR. It's not for anyone who doesn't have a gaming PC with at least an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX480 graphics card.

Super comfortable; Comes with built-in headphones; Streamlined cabling; Sharper displays

Super expensive; Need to buy controllers and lighthouses separately

So much fun!

I have been having so much fun. I waited a month for this but it was well worth the wait. I haven't played with the previous equipment but the tracking works very well. The shells for the 1.0 work on these controllers as well from my experience.
