Google Pixel 5 Phone review

The Google Pixel 5 is a great smartphone but we've been spoiled with past Pixels and as a result, the Pixel 5 just doesn't have the same 'wow' factor past Pixel smartphones have had.

Price, Compact size, Easy to use camera, Metal casing (no fingerprints), Brilliant camera AI

No telephoto lens, No headphone jack, Not as ground-breaking as Pixel smartphones once were

Google Pixel 5 Phone review

This is the latest 5G SmartPhone from Google, in comparison to some recent offerings it is quite small and because of the lack of size it is also quite light. So apart from being one of the first units to have Android 11 what else does this have to offer.

Google Pixel 5 Phone review

Google goes back to its old tricks, mostly for the better

Excellent photos, especially in the dark, Clean, simple Android software experience, Good battery life

Slow image processing, The mmWave tax increases the price, Panel audio “speaker” is weak and tinny for video and games

Google Pixel 5 Phone review

The Google Pixel 5 solves my two biggest complaints about the Pixel 4, which to be fair, weren't complaints last year. One is that there's a fingerprint sensor; as I said earlier, any company that made a phone without a fingerprint sensor in 2020 would have to be completely tone-deaf.

Edge-to-edge display, Fingerprint sensor, Camera, 5G support

No XL model, Bland design, mmWave tax

Google Pixel 5 5G (128GB, Just Black) AU - Pristine review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Google Pixel 5 5G (128GB, Just Black) AU - Pristine review

The iPhone 14 isn’t much of an upgrade over the iPhone 13, but it’s still a great device and an upgrade for anyone coming from the iPhone 11 or older.

Great camera, Good battery, Emergency features are cool, Still excellent performance

Display could use some upgrades

Google Pixel 5 5G (128GB, Just Black) AU - Pristine review

Apple has given select media outlets and YouTubers access to the new iPhone 14 ahead of when it begins arriving in customers' hands on Friday, September 16. There are two models of the ‌iPhone‌ 14, the standard 6.1-inch ‌iPhone‌ 14 and the larger 6.7-inch ‌iPhone‌ 14 Plus.

Google Pixel 5 Review: Soft Reboot

Rather than raise the price and stakes, the follow-up to last year's Pixel 4 drops a few thrills, learns a few new tricks and tries to position itself as the no-compromise candidate for those who want a premium Android experience but don’t want to spend upwards of $1000. It’s a soft reboot that’s iterative and familiar enough to satisfy fans but still cheap enough to entice newcomers.

Google’s latest Pixel is more interested in being better value than just plain better.

Great price; Stunning camera; Sleek software;

Softcore specs; No Face Unlock;

Google Pixel 5 Phone review

But after using the $699 Pixel 5 for nearly a month now, I can confidently say that it feels like Google is onto something with the new approach. Instead of throwing all the technological wonders the company is working on into a compact device, Google took a step back with Pixel 5, reverting to...

Strong battery life, Good performance, More affordable

The camera is starting to get left behind

Google Pixel 5 review

The Pixel 5 doesn't pretend to compete with the most powerful phones on the market, because it doesn't have to. It's perhaps the most balanced Android phone to date, not to mention a great choice for those after a capable small phone, 5G phone or camera phone.

Compact, clean, lightweight design; Outstanding camera features; Superb user experience;

Lacklustre loudspeaker; Finish scratches easily; Slow 'fast' charging;
