Fallout 76 Xbox One review: Sorry internet, I like it (but still don't recommend it)

Bethesda is notorious for its bugs and engine anomalies. Its dynamic, modular Creation Engine used for Skyrim, Fallout 4 and other titles allows the company to fairly rapidly build huge open worlds, full of detail and reasons to explore.

Rich; detailed Fallout-style open world; Great environmental storytelling; Fun with friends

Ungodly amount of bugs; Many systems just feel clunky; When not hidden by lighting; it's pretty ugly

Fallout 76

Bethesda has released Fallout 76 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The online prequel Fallout 76 is finally here and diehard fans of the Fallout franchise could not be happier. In Fallout 76, gamers get to explore the treacherous wasteland that lies in West Virginia full of eccentric characters and enemies.

Fallout 76 isn't good for much, but it is giving gamers one more chance to learn a valuable lesson. Don't pay for a product you do not want-particularly when you know you are paying for a product you do not want. Let me be up front: I think this game is bad.

Fallout 76 review review

Fresh setting offers welcome sights; Inspired new creatures to kill; Combat’s fun with friends;

Lacking story/interesting characters; Uninspired mission structure; Survival elements can be a grind; Warming up to new V.A.T.S;

"Destiny set in Fallout"

Not a MMOG fan but thought I'd give it a go as I am a Fallout fan. Not enthused with the game. Up to level 7, and just found a combat shotgun that is L20. So that may come in handy sometime in the future.

Destiny set in Fallout

Not a MMOG fan but thought I'd give it a go as I am a Fallout fan. Not enthused with the game. Up to level 7, and just found a combat shotgun that is L20. So that may come in handy sometime in the future. Probably a good game if I had mates and time for a four or five hour session without glitching out. As a solo player, not much fun. I'll keep at it in the hope it will get more enjoyable, but thinking that going back to Fallout 4 in survivor mode will be more fun

Fallout 76 review

Whether you're looking to reclaim Appalachia solo or play the game, as intended, with some apocalypse-taming friends, Fallout 76 is a bit of a mixed bag. On the plus side, it can absolutely be tackled as a single-player experience – just one that's not quite as engaging or narratively rich as Fallout 3 or 4. Those willing to dive into the series' first full-on multiplayer entry with the enthusiasm of a Vault-Tec volunteer will find it similarly hit-or-miss. The content, especially combat, is more fun to tackle with a buddy or two by your side, but it's not innovative or compelling enough to pull players away from online communities they're already invested in. We have no doubt Bethesda will attempt to improve the experience through upcoming patches and updates – some audio-dropping bugs we encountered early on appear to have already been addressed. But whether they can convert the franchise's most passionate, single-player fans to an always-online wasteland remains to be seen. For now though, we suggest keeping your expectations in check upon emerging from Vault 76.

Fallout 76 review – a bad idea, poorly executed

Bethesda's new online-only game has been out for a week now, as GameCentral offers a final verdict on the controversial release.

The game world is the largest and most interesting of any Fallout title; And if you're very lucky, and get it at the right angle, it can even look fairly impressive

Dull, repetitive gameplay with tedious quests, horrendous combat, and glitchy base construction; Lack of non-player characters ruins the story; One of the buggiest games ever released

I have actually played the game.

Now played over 30 hours. The game is good not as great a previous fallouts due to lack of NPC's. Better graphics than previous Fallouts. Being part of a team is really fun and makes taking down Scorchbeast less scary. Everybody I have met online has been friendly and helpful.

Fallout 76 Review

Multiplayer survival games have long dominated the Steam charts, but it's telling that so few have ever managed to make it out of Early Access. One might guess that a triple-A studio could succeed where so many indies have failed, but it seems highly unlikely that Bethesda – a company notorious for...

Solid variety in the environments

Combat in the Creation Engine, without V.A.T.S; and with constant stuttering and lag
