"Compact, Slimline and Professional - Canon PowerShot G9 X II"

Introduction When it comes to cameras, Canon is definitely one of my favourite makes. I've already given my views on one other Canon camera so far, but to be honest, the Canon PowerShot G9 X II (Also known as Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II) might just beat that.

Superb Image Quality; Unique Features; Slimline and Professional Looking

Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II

There is some stiff competition in this space. You can get the older Sony RX100 II for about the same price and enjoy a longer zoom range, but you won't get a touch screen. The next model up in Canon's line, the G7 X Mark II , is more expensive, but features an articulating touch LCD and a brighter,...

Crisp lens; 1-inch image sensor; 8.1fps image capture; Touch LCD; Built-in ND filter; In-camera art filters; Wi-Fi; Quite compact

Pricey; Short zoom; Narrow aperture when zoomed; No 60fps video option

Can't Get Photos

The camera is small and takes great photos, which does absolutely no good unless they can be transferred to a computer or phone! The wifi function is glitchy. Called Canon. They had me download another software patch that is so complicated I can't get it to work.

Canon G9X Mark II

The Canon G9X Mark II is a huge advance on its predecessor and fixes its most problematic faults. It may not be the best choice for creative photographers, but as a casual snapshot camera it's very good indeed.

Slimline; pocketable design; Good image quality from 1-inch sensor; Well-implemented touchscreen; Excellent in-camera JPEG processing

Unambitious lens; Limited physical controls; No 4K video recording

Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II review: Touchscreen camera power in your pocket

Compact cameras as they were once known are dead and buried. Now if you go looking for a dedicated camera - one that's not on your smartphone, anyway - it'll come with a larger-scale sensor and more features to help it stand out.

Pocketable design; decent image quality from 1-inch sensor; touschreen controls; works well enough in variety of lighting conditions

No tilt-angle screen feels restrictive; limited zoom range; limited maximum aperture at full zoom; the G7 X II is a more logical proposition

Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II Review: Powerful Pocket Shooter

With a smartphone in every pocket, the point-and-shoot category of digital cameras has mostly disappeared. Fortunately, there are still some compact cameras - like the 20-megapixel Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II ($430) - that are small enough to carry anywhere but also have lots of bells and whistles...

Slim; pocket size design; Responsive touch screen; Good image quality; RAW shooting and in-camera conversion; Speedy continuous shooting; Easy image transfer to mobile devices

No viewfinder; Modest battery life; No 4K video

Part of Canon's newest line-up of compact cameras, the G9X MkII boasts a very compact build, packing in a 1in sensor capable of capturing 20.1MP stills or 1080p 60fps Full HD video… The lens only offers a 3x optical zoom (considerably less than the two opposite), with a 35mm equivalent length of...

Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II Review

When the iPhone 7 first hit the market, the powerful built in camera lead reviewers to pose a question: "Do we even need dedicated cameras anymore?" In some ways, there is a bit of truth to the sentiment.
