I recently bought a G5 X as a walkaround and to compliment my Canon mirrorless and DSLR kit comprising 2 x EOS RP and a 7D MKI. I've only been using it for a week and am really impressed with the IQ and ease of use.

The Canon PowerShot G5 X is a new premium compact camera with a large CMOS image sensor and a fast lens. The metal-bodied G5 X has a 1.0-type back-illuminated 20.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor, an f/1.8-2.8, 4.2x lens with 9-blade aperture, full manual controls, shooting mode and exposure compensation...

The G5 X was launched at the same time as two other new cameras – the G9 X and the mirrorless EOS M10. The G5 X is potentially the most interesting, though, because it offers enthusiast oriented controls in a pocket-size camera with an electronic viewfinder.

One of two recently-launched additions to Canon's collection of high-end compact cameras, the PowerShot G5 X is the first G series snapper to come with an OLED electronic viewfinder, which it teams up with a touchscreen, a large sensor, a wide aperture lens and metal construction.

This is the first PowerShot camera I've owned. It's smaller than it appears in photos, but takes outstanding photos. The electronic viewfinder is excellent, bright and detailed. Controls similar to Canon DSLR's and menus are easy to follow. Well built and easy to carry.

I've been Canon 5D shooter for the last 12 years or so. Decided to also have something small to keep with me all the time, saw this one in a store and it felt so nice to hold...I decided to do some research on it.

I love my new G5X; the image quality, form-factor and control set are just what the doctor ordered, lol....

Awsome feature set and image quality; love the manual controls. Perfect companion camera for my G3X. Very bright F1.8-2.8 lens combined with quick auto-focus make this a very handy camera for indoor and low-light use. The small size of the camera lets it live in a belt holster to go with me 24/7.

Lens may be a bit soft at wide-open aperture and full wide-angle, may need to apply in-camera sharpening to compensate; Need to check that out a bit more, as not sure yet

Firstly the delivery time was very good considering it was being sent to Northern Ireland. Ordered 3-5days and it arrives in two days. The camera feels solid in the had and is very well constructed. The controls are smooth and well laid out. It seems a lot of thought has gone into this camera.
