I've been shooting video with a DSLR for just over a year and I can't get over how much of a pleasant conversion it was to go back to a camcorder. The HF G30 is crisp enough to provide sharp visuals as well as having a high dynamic range superior to most DSLRs.

Easy to use; Compact; Build quality

I've had this camera for a little over a week now and I'm loving it. I have been using my T2i for the last 3 years and felt the need to complement it with an actual video camera.

The Canon Legria HF G30 is a very wide Full HD camcorder with a 20x optical zoom, 400x digital zoom and a large 3.5in OLED touchscreen monitor. It also has an electronic viewfinder, built-in Wi-Fi and a host of enthusiast-oriented features such as a zoom and focus ring.

I use this product mostly for making local small business commercials and home videos, many of which are entered into various contests. I find the manual focus to be absolutely phenomenal. All lights in the background are made into crisp, clear circles, rather than getting blurred out.

I use this for recording my kids at their sports as well as general use. I'd recommend gening-up on the various terms used in this camcorder before buying if you're a casual user.

I have previously owned a Canon video camera with no viewfinder as well as other video cameras with viewfinders. As a non- professional, I say that the Canon Vixa HF G30 is by far the best I have ever used! It will probably be he last one I buy for a very long time.

Having been a Prosumer camcorder owner, I was amazed at how many similar features could be incorporated into such a small package. My other camcorder is a 3 chip model. Very little difference in quality of video. Small size is a plus many times when you don't want to appear "PROFESSIONAL".

The Vixia HF G30 is recognizable to both professionals and home camcorder users alike. It's comfortable to hold and its buttons are easily accessible. There's a front focus/zoom ring and an exposure dial which are both incredibly useful.

This is a super little camera that performs well in light and dark. The picture quality is excellent. The only thing not quite so good is battery life. Could be better.

Works great in low light; Auto mode is super simple; Manual mode is easy to use as well

Instruction manual is on a CD; Not exactly usefull for outdoor filming quick reference
