The Canon EOS RP is the second full- frame mirrorless camera after the EOS R to feature the company’s RF mount, and while it is one of the least expensive current generation full-frame mirrorless models available (aimed at entry-level users), it still has attractive specs.
The RP is the step-down model to the EOS R, but we find the more affordable camera a better handler on account of its layout and size. However, limited battery life, some mis-balanced issues when using larger lenses, and 4K crop in video capture are all niggling issues.
Great camera for the price; Solid AF and metering performance; Top noise control in high ISO; Touchscreen control;
Poor battery life; Cropped 4K capture; Smaller body and grip - some lenses aren't well balanced; Current lack of affordable lenses;
Canon EOS RP Review – Canon EOS RP is the second, full-frame mirrorless camera from Canon with the latest RF mount released in 2019. I can safely say that Canon EOS RP is a mirrorless version of the Canon EOS 6D mark II that I have reviewed.
The Canon EOS RP is the second full-frame mirrorless camera launched by the veteran camera company. While the EOS R was met with a lukewarm reception, the EOS RP aims to aggressively target sales of other brands by providing it a very attractive price.
Good price; Small and light (for full-frame; Adaptor bundled for your older lenses
Small body can feel unbalanced; 4K video limitations; No weather-sealing
The SRP for Canon EOS RP body is RM 5,999 of which I think is very high a price tag to command for a body as such. As you can see I didn’t touch on matters like 4K and the various complaints you probably seen from other reviews. I’d say case by case, and depends on what you need.
Get this camera if you want to join the ranks of full-frame mirrorless owners without breaking the bank.
Good image quality, Fully articulated touch-screen monitor, Easy to use, New Fv exposure mode, Compact and lightweight, 4K video, Competitively priced
Limited affordable RF native lenses, Slow continuous shooting speed, No built-in flash, Video limitations, Short battery life, No in-body stabilization
A few months back, I reviewed the Canon EOS R . While it's not the perfect mirrorless camera, it is a great first outing for Canon. In the shadow of the EOS R, we're now looking at the more budget-friendly Canon EOS RP .
The best camera for a jpeg shooter like i am ... Dynamic range is crap Who cares when shooting jpeg! Just take advantage of EVF and nail the exposure on your main subject ... if the contrast of the scene is too high, just be creative and use shadows or clipped sky at your advantage Aside of this,...
