One of our favourite quotes from Bound By Flame can be heard in the prologue, and we'd like to share it with you. It tells you quite a lot about the game. Your character Vulcan is a member of the mercenary band The Freeborn Blades, who have been tasked with protecting the Red Scribes.

Are you of the mind that a game's story doesn't matter as long as its gameplay is solid? If that's the case, then you'll be in favor of Bound By Flame; a solid gameplay experience that is marred by a not-so-great story. One of the best parts of Bound By Flame is the combat.

When's the last time you played a game that was both great and awful? Well if you're the kind of person who likes to categorise games into the good and the bad, Bound by Flame is here to teach you the folly of false dichotomies.

Its no dark souls beater, grapics are ok not great but ok, its got solid gameplay but for me it was too repetitive with the lack of fighting moves so you find yourself constantly repeating the same moves over and over!

In Bound by Flame, Spiders deliver an action-RPG that just about manages to remain playable throughout, but offers not a single "wow" moment. An interesting but limited crafting system and an atmospheric fantasy world don't make up for run-of-the-mill writing, 2-dimensional characters, imbalanced...

A Frankenstein's monster of other people's ideas, that if not for the sleazy script would be laughable in its desperation to include every fantasy cliché imaginable.

The crafting system is excellent and the skill tree element of character customisation is nicely varied; OK background graphics, despite the poor facial animation

A weak plot and a terrible script, with a very uncomfortable attitude towards women; Repetitive and unoriginal combat; Bland environments and useless computer-controlled allies

I don't necessarily think Bound By Flame is a bad game. I think these sort of games are important for the experimental/daring ideas they add to the over all conversation of video games nowadays.

The game is awesome. It isn't great graphics wise but that isn't what I look for so I'm happy with what I'm getting. It has a good storyline, good characters and a gameplay that I like. When I read the initial reviews of this game people compared it to fable n all but this isn't a fable.
