Beats Solo Pro review

There’s a lot to love about the Beats Solo Pro, particularly if you’re an iPhone owner. They offer a lovely design, good noise cancelling, an energetic, detailed performance and outstanding usability. However, while we know Apple is keen to make wireless the way to listen to music, the lack of cable to listen to these wired if you’re out of battery is frustrating. Plus that fit is still far too snug to be comfortable enough for long listens. We can only hope they’ll soften over time, but you’ll have to make do with sore ears for a while to get there if they do. Those niggles aside, these are the best sounding, most well rounded Beats the company has made to date, with a performance worthy of their premium price tag. We’d say that’s a new reputation the company can really be proud of.

Detailed; Engaging sound; Good noise cancelling, ; Attractive design; Good battery life and fast charging;

Snug fit isn’t the most comfortable; No way of listening wired out of the box; iPhones get the best experience; ANC not adjustable;

Beats Solo Pro Review

With the Solo Pro, Beats has ditched the bass boost and delivered an accomplished set of headphones. They can't quite match up to the Sony WH-1000XM3, which come in at a similar price, but if you're a fan of Beats headphones then the Solo Pro are worth considering

Superb transparency mode; Good active noise cancellation; Balanced tone, particularly for Beats;

Go over-ear and you get bigger sound, same price; Tight grip may be a turn-off; Fold to turn off? It's not for everyone;

Beats Solo Pro Review

With the Solo Pro headphones, Beats essentially takes the popular Solo3 Wireless and adds active noise cancellation (ANC). At $299.95, they're priced to compete with top noise-cancelling models like the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700. Neither Bose nor Beats are known for accurate audio performance, though here Beats delivers a boosted-bass sound signature that manages to keep the overall listening experience balanced and clear. From an ANC standpoint, Beats isn't quite on par with Bose, but you're also paying less. That said, the price still feels a bit high, though as with Bose, popular branding comes with its own premium. Ultimately, the headphones deliver more than just a familiar logo, with effective ANC and powerful audio that will appeal to bass lovers. Design Available in black, dark blue, gray, ivory, light blue, or red, the Solo Pro are on-ear (supra-aural) headphones with ample memory foam cushioning in the earpads and headband. They're bulky, but comfortable over...

The Beats Solo Pro headphones delivers quality noise cancellation with a bass-forward, but relatively balanced, sound signature.

Powerful audio performance with boosted bass and sculpted highs; Solid noise cancellation blocks out low-frequency rumble; Voice control option for iOS devices

Expensive; No track navigation buttons; Noise cancellation adds slight hiss; No ANC or EQ adjustments

Beats Solo Pro Wireless Noise Cancelling On-Ear Headphone - Black MRJ62FE/A review

The Beats Solo Pro are the first over the ear headphones released by Apple/Beats that has active noise cancellation. This is useful when I am walking down west fourth ave, in Kitsilano and don’t want to hear a dull roar of buses, honking and the constant hum of traffic whizzing by.

Lots of color options; ear cushions made of memory foam; Noise Cancellation; Seamless pairing with iOS 13; Lighting port

Heavy; Lots of torque on head adjuster; Wind gets in my ears; bypassing cusion; Expensive

Beats Solo Pro Wireless Noise Cancelling On-Ear Headphone - Black MRJ62FE/A review

Beats Solo Pro headphones have amazing noise cancellation abilities that unfortunately come at the expense of comfort.

Active noise cancellation is far better than you'd expect for on-ear headphones ; 22 hours of battery life ; Transparency mode when you want to let the sound in

$300 headphones should include an audio cable ; Uncomfortably tight fit

Beats Solo Pro review: Too close for comfort

Your mileage with the Solo Pro is ultimately going to be funneled towards a single question.

By making every other part of the package feel exceptional enough, the familiar problems that plague the Solo Pro become the sort of inconveniences that you’re willing to live with rather than outright deal breakers.

Surprisingly good sound quality; Great material design; Fast pairing;

Can often be uncomfortable; Not properly sweat resistant; Expensive;
