Best known for its excellent wireless outdoor home security cameras, the Arlo Video Doorbell ($149.99) is the company's first smart doorbell. It lets you see who is at your door using your phone or an Alexa smart display, and it will alert you when the bell has been pressed or when someone approaches, with a live HDR video stream and the ability to speak with whomever is out there. It also offers some nice premium features including smart motion detection, 30 days of rolling video storage, and custom motion activity zones, but you have to pay extra for them. It also lacks some of the features that you get with our less expensive Editors' Choice, the RemoBell S. You can get cheaper ones with seemingly similar features except one... this is the only one to currently offer the functionality for the doorbell to call your phone like a regular phone call. This seems like such a trivial feature, but from coming from other electronic doorbells which simply send a push notification (which easily go missed), coming through as a proper phone call means you are FAR less likely to miss a ring on the door. It's pretty bloody awesome! I've wired mine up to trickle charge the battery so should hopefully never need charging manually. Does all they say it will, but you can only read a number plate if it's within about 7m after that it's too blurry to read. Otherwise very easy to install and setup.
