Apple has added the first over-ear headphones to its range with the AirPods Max, which must be pretty good as they cost 600 Euros – and for those of us who live in the Apple world this is certainly the case.

The bigger complaint is the price. $549 is a lot to ask mainstream consumers to spend on a pair of headphones, especially when you’ve got the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 and the Sony WH-1000xM4 out there for $329 and $349, respectively.
Gorgeous design, Great audio quality, Powerful ANC, Seamless integration with Apple devices
Expensive
Like every Apple product that is released, there has been a lot said about the AirPods Max. Whatever you might think of Apple, they’ve done an excellent job of marketing their brand. Because they’ve done such an excellent job at marketing, their devices sell very well.
Amazing design, Amazing build quality, Simple to use and setup, especially with other Apple products, The sound is outstanding, The best ANC of any over-ear headphone that I've used, Amazing call quality and reception, The best Transparency Mode of any headphone, Great battery life, Very comfortable
These boys are expensive, silly expensive, The clacking of the two ear cups together might cause wear over time, The lifespan of the headband mesh is questionable, The smart case is ugly, just ugly
Sonically speaking, the AirPods Max don’t put a foot wrong – these are hands-down the best wireless noise-cancellers you can buy
Superb sound and noise-cancelling; Cinematic spatial audio; Exceptional build quality
Near-pointless case; Audio cable not included; Practically Apple-only

Apple finally lifts the lid on a pair of shockingly pricey over-ear cans
The Apple AirPods Max are among the best-sounding headphones we've ever tested, they're easy to use, and their noise cancellation can easily stand up to the likes of the Sony WH-1000XM4 and the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700.
Unbelievable audio performance; Fantastic user experience; Brilliant extra features for iOS; Great noise cancellation
Very expensive; No 3.5mm audio port; Limited features for Android; Ineffective carrying case
The Apple AirPods Max are big, expensive and flashy noise cancelling-headphones that manage to stand out in a crowded market. They sound fantastic with most genres of music, brilliant with movies including some fancy virtual surround tech, plus superb noise cancelling that matches the best in the...
fantastic music quality; super comfortable; brilliant movie sound; spatial audio; excellent seamless switching; instant pairing with Apple gear; excellent controls; solid battery life; premium build.
expensive; heavy; no headphone socket; no headphone cable included; no power button; weird case; no real protection included; only fold flat; bleed sound a little; need at least one Apple device for updates/settings.
The Apple AirPods Max, contrary to the not properly thought out first reactions, aren’t exactly the first headphones that cost this much. And they most certainly won’t be the last either. And the AirPods Max are doing well what they are supposed to do. The audio quality is sophisticated and refined.
