AKG N700NC M2 : Sounds great

More musical than the Bose QC35 II but noise cancelling is mediocre

Exceptional sound quality; Well-made; Comfortable;

Noise cancelling can't match Bose or Sony; No voice assistant button;

AKG N700NC M2 review

There’s a lot to like about AKG’s flagship headphones. A refinement of the original N700 NC, they provide everything most people are looking for in wireless cans. Particular highlights are its excellent handling of old-school classics, solid implementation of the virtual assistant and superb battery life. However, the main sticking point is the price. It’s hard to justify buying these when class-leading headphones from both Sony and Bose are currently cheaper, as they offer superior noise cancellation and sound isolation.

AKG N700NC M2 Wireless Review

When it comes to noise cancellation, Bose still leads the industry with its $400 Noise Cancelling Headphones 700. But Bose isn't the only game in town, especially if you place more of an emphasis on audio performance than ANC (active noise cancellation). AKG's N700NC M2 Wireless headphones may not roll off the tongue, but at $299 they cost far less than the Bose pair and deliver a stronger sound signature, with wonderful balance and more realistic bass. In terms of ANC, Bose still has the edge, but AKG is no slouch. So if audio performance is more important to you than noise cancellation, but you want both, these headphones are a compelling option. Design The N700NC M2 Wireless headphones have a handsome shape, with smooth lines and oblong, oval earcups lined with leatherette cushions and aluminum accents with a gray, eggshell finish. The look is modern, with a focus on shape over branding, though the AKG logo is quite visible on each earcups's outer panel. The fit is secure, and ...

The pricey AKG N700NC M2 Wireless headphones offer solid noise cancellation, but their audio performance is the real selling point.

Excellent audio performance; Comfortable fit; App includes customizable EQ; Ambient Aware/Talk Thru modes; Can be used in wired or passive modes

Expensive; ANC cannot be disabled

Excellent midprice wireless headphones!

Bought these to replace a pair of Sennheiser HD 450BT's that I was very dissapointed in after I purchased them. (Go check reviews for problems noted) These on the other hand have no problems that I have encountered, have a great sound and are comfortable enough to use for hours at a time. Bought on special which made it even better!

The AKG N700CM2

I've been waiting for ages to buy a pair of good quality wireless over-the-ear noise cancelling headphones that didn't break the bank. I can access a number of high quality brands out of the US but Covid has seen freight costs soar to to such an extent that the landed price in NZD didn't make sense. I had seen this model in Sydney at $546 AUD earlier on in the year so when PB Tech had them on sale at $200 it was a no brainer. While a true Hi-Fi enthusiast wouldn't be happy with the sound quality of these headphones, the quality is very comparable to other well known quality brands in NZ. And having the bass start at 35Hz makes things re...view more
