Apple's new smaller iPhone has launched today, the handset comes with the power of the iPhone 6S in the smaller form factor of the iPhone 5S and there are already iPhone SE reviews from various sites.

Apple didn't come up with a new design for the smaller iPhone SE. Instead, they've reused the old iPhone 5s with new internals. It's an odd move, which we witness for the first time - it's like reusing the same looks of a phone model third generation in a row.

It isn't quite fair to review the iPhone SE as a new device. Despite being the first iPhone to step away from Apple's number naming scheme, and despite being the first 4-inch iPhone in two years, it isn't a product of innovation, but rather one of stagnation.

While Apple has never said that any of their iPhones are water proof or water resistant, on occasion, some iPhones have taken a splash or dip and survived. This isn't a crown jewel phone. The iPhone 7 is months away for that distinction. The SE isn't really built to blaze new territory, as much as it is designed to service a market which the 5S could no longer fulfill. Viewed by that criteria, this phone is a smashing success.

The SE is the little iPhone that could. With a 4in screen and the body of an iPhone 5s, it fits in my pockets better than my iPhone 6s, and it’s easier to use one-handed. But it doesn’t compromise much over its bigger, more expensive siblings.

New York: Unless you take a lot of selfies or need a bigger phone, Apple's new 4-inch iPhone SE is a good choice at a good price.
