So much for the 4K smartphone. After painstakingly squeezing a 4K screen onto its previous flagship – the Xperia Z5 Premium – Sony's latest top-of-the-range handset, the Xperia XZ, has reverted back to a standard Full HD display.

Considering Sony made quite the fanfare about the Xperia XZ when it was launched, regarding the camera, and considering Sony makes such excellent stand-alone cameras, the XZ is a little disappointing.
This phone has no curves and for some that maybe in vogue, but I am no fashion guru. After Apple and Samsung perhaps the best known brand is Sony and this offering is the latest one from them to come across my desk courtesy of Vodafone.
Sony Xperia XZ is all about its camera prowess. And the 23MP rear camera is truly capable of taking some stunning shots in bright outdoors.
The Xperia XZ is an attractive phone in design if you can get on with the angular style and while it's cheaper than rivals such as the iPhone 7 and Google Pixel, you can get better value with some older phones like the Samsung Galaxy S7.
