Fujifilm X-T2 review: for the love of photography

Fujifilm's X-T2 is the perfect mirrorless camera for photo geeks. It seems like that's true of every camera that Fujifilm releases, but the X-T2 is a refined sequel to the X-T1 that improves on its predecessor in the ways that matter most: resolution, autofocus, and ease of use.

Previous experience might have led you to expect the X-T2 to be a DSLR-shaped variant of the X-Pro2. This hasn't proved to be the case, with Fujifilm pulling out all the stops to address the system's two significant weak points: autofocus and video.

Excellent image quality in both Raw and JPEG; Superb JPEG color options; Direct controls give engaging shooting experience; Reassuringly solid build quality; AF point joystick speed up operation; Greatly improved autofocus; especially in terms of tracking; Dual hinged rear screen suits both stills...

JPEG noise reduction can sometimes over-smooth skin detail at very high ISO; Camera's full AF capability only available with a subset of lenses; Subject tracking; while good; is not dependable enough for professional use; AF performance drops significantly in low light; Phase detection region is...

Currently in very high demand while not even available yet, the Fujifilm X-T2 ILC is a very powerful and coveted camera by more experienced amateur photographers. Sporting a new 24-Megapixel X-Trans CMOS imaging sensor, beefed-up X-Processor Pro, outstanding AF system with customizable AF-C...

Great image quality; both still and video; EVF is a pleasure to shoot with; showing 100% field of view and all exposure settings; On-camera controls are easy to access and use; Film simulation to recreate all of your favorite Fujifilm styles; LCD rotates and tilts to allow you to shoot in even the...

No Scene Recognition auto (Not necessary on this camera, No built-in Image Stabilization; You have to rely on the lens, No dedicated video recording button, Drive mode and Metering mode switches can be hard turn while on the go, No in-camera video editing options, Steep Price Tag

Review: Fujifilm X-T2 - worth ditching your DSLR for!

Fuji sent a warning to the DSLR market with the release of the X-T1 back in 2014, and the X-T2 is here to stamp its mark on the professional photography market and dish out some more killer blows to DSLRs.

An amazing camera without the bulk

I had purchased this camera to replace my Canon 700D, and it is simply such a massive upgrade and much more enjoyable camera to use. Apart from the resolution increase, I've noticed much better dynamic range and colour rendition. Using the camera is very enjoyable too.

Easy to use; Build quality; Screen size

Fujifilm X-T2

The X-T2 is Fujifilm's second top-end compact system camera, designed to sit alongside the X-Pro2. It features a 24.3-megapixel X-Trans CMOS sensor, which is APS-C size. Like other X-Trans CMOS sensors, it doesn't have an anti-aliasing filter in front of it, making it well equipped to deal with...

X-Trans CMOS sensor; Great tracking performance; Useful electronic viewfinder; Capable of 4K video shooting

No touchscreen; Requires battery grip for top performance; No in-body image stabilisation

Fuji X-T2 Review

This is an in-depth review of the Fuji X-T2, a second generation mirrorless camera in its class that was announced in July of 2016 as a replacement of the X-T1. It has been a few years since the Fujifilm X-T1 shook the photography world when it was announced, thanks to its amazing ergonomics, superb...

Fujifilm X-T2 review: A new benchmark for the mirrorless market

It took us about three minutes to fall in love with the Fujifilm X-T1 . So when we were first shown the Fujifilm X-T2 back in July it only took us about three seconds. In many ways the X-T2 is the most advanced compact system camera offering we've seen, its goal firmly set on being the best...

Comprehensive continuous autofocus system not seen by other CSCs to date; great electric viewfinder; optional grip enhances performance considerably; tweaked design with larger dials but retaining retro appeal

Still no touchscreen; 3-directional LCD screen switch is fussy; toggles around dials are too small; need grip for many higher-end features; no price just yet; could do with some more detailed single autofocus options

Fujifilm X-T2 review: The definition of a great camera

The Fujifilm X-T1 was a high watermark for mirrorless camera design and has remained among my favourite cameras since its launch in 2014. Its video capture wasn't up to much and rival cameras were faster, but sublime ergonomics meant taking photos was an absolute pleasure and inspecting the...

Best-in-class ergonomics; Outstanding image quality; Capable 4K video mode

Burst and video autofocus could be better; A little slow in normal use
