Canon's legendary L-lens reputation is built on lens such as the 70-200mm F/2.8, this is the lens that gives the credit to the WOW factor associated with Canon L lens. Sharpness, contrast is second to none.
Fantasic lens for hockey photo. Very fast focus and very quite sound when focusing. It is easily give 1/1250 second shtter speed when the ISO set to 1600 on my Canon T4i.
Superb lens, the USM speed and clarity of snaps is just superb. You can get amazing portraits from a distance. It weighs a bit though and that makes it difficult, especially the non-IS version, to keep it steady in low light.
I haven't had a chance to use it much yet, but I have used it in arenas.Does it ever do a great job. really looking forward to using it more when summer arrives.

I bought this for our trip to Asia. My husband and I both used this lens on a 30D and XTi and the resulting image quality was excellent! I had considered getting the IS version however for the steep increase in price ($500) and weight I couldn't justify that purchase, in part because with a lens...
Picture quality; f/2.8; fast auto-focusing
Weight; attracts unwanted attention
I have used this lens many times in the past and it's affectionately known as 'old reliable'. Whilst it's too big to be considered a travel lens, I couldn't imagine shooting an important event without it. You've probably read countless reviews that rave about the image quality- they are all true.
The only portait lens you'll ever need. I have no need to spend an extra $1200 for I.S., because I use a T.R.I.P.O.D. I can count eyelashes on every exposure.
Durable; Nice Bokeh; Rugged; Sharp

"This is my first L lens. I've had it about a year now. I love the 2.8 aperture throughout the range. Its my favorite lens I own. If your thinking about getting this lens, don't' hesitate. You won't be disappointed. If you have an extra $1000 get the IS version.
This is definatly the best lens for the money! This lens produces amazing, crisp pictures. I the quality is unserpassed, but then again that is what you get when you go with the "L" series.
