For macro work and professional product photography, the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro is about as good as it gets. But even that's selling this phenomenal piece of glass short. Top-shelf build quality, excellent sharpness, and image stabilization make this a lens that's useful for more than just...

Canon's premium 100mm L-series macro offers 123mm of sturdy plastic design, but with a respectable weight of 625g. The standout feature is the Hybrid optical IS, helping negate rotational and linear camera shake and giving back 4 stops, though less at 1x magnification.

Perhaps the most fun (& awarded) Canon Macro lens

I bought this lens about 3 years ago. It is, simply put, an amazing lens. I love the image stabilisation for hand-held macro shots, and it is extremely good at head & shoulders/heads only portraits.

Amazing quality

I have been using this lens as an upgrade of my older 100mm, and what an upgrade. I am a dentist specialized in cosmetic dentistry, I use the lens along with the macrolite or with studio strobes. The details of the ceramics and enamels are just amazing.

Lens Addiction It's a real thing. It's practically Freudian: Who has the biggest one? Boys and their pee-pee measuring eh? Yes, the 100mm is an impressive spectacle isn't it? Having a higher focal range usually means you've got to have bigger glass. I digress, majorly. Why did I buy this specimen?

Great combo

All items arrived in perfect condition. Items in combo are actually all usable. Have not used lens so far, but plenty of reviews give it an excellent rating.

Canon's newest "L" series lens is its first mid-telephoto macro lens to include Canon's sophisticated Image Stabilization. With the highest quality optics available, combined with near-silent Ultrasonic focusing and life-size close-up capabilities without an adapter, the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM...

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens Review: Up Close & Personal with a Classic Canon Macro

The classic definition of macro photography is that the image projected onto the digital sensor (or film plane) should be the same size as the subject. With a 1:1 ratio, a DSLR with a full-frame chip should be able to produce life-size magnification and focus on an area as small as 24x36mm.
