Top quality lens

The lens is even better than I expected. Clarity is excellent. Depth of field is exactly as expected. My very first pictures were hand held and the IS worked very well. Others commented that the AF was loud - I found it to be barely audible.

Money well spent

A user friendly lens with astonishing sharpness. Combined with a good ring-flash it opens new micro worlds

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS lens

Very impressed. I've wanted this lens for a long time. Grays' price was $500 cheaper than retail in Australia. Delivery from Hong Kong took less than a week. Grays give a 12 month replacement/refund warranty. Can't ask for better.

Great lens, fantastic for macro, doubles as portrait lens.

If you're looking for a macro lens, look no further. The canon 100mm macro F2.8L with IS offers 1:1 image replication. This enables you to snap postage stamp sized objects that will fill your entire frame.

Easy to use; Compact; Build quality

Terrific lens, no faults

This is a superb lens not only for macro work but for general use. It gives you a good working distance with macro objects, and is equally suitable for more distant subjects. Quality holds at all f Stops. When used with my unforgiving Canon DFSr pictures are crystal clear and sharp.

Excellent lens good working distance from macro objects; suitable for all purpose use as well

none really; you may want to use manual focus in some situations for extreme close-ups

Worth the Upgrade

I liked the non-L version of this lens quite a bit, & got some wonderful photos with it. I was very hesitant to upgrade to the L IS version because I had read that there wasn't much to be gained by upgrading. I finally bit the bullet, sold my other lens, & ordered this one.

Fantastic Lens

This lens has blown me away. It is my first IS lens from Canon. I own a 85 1.2L and it is slow to focus and forget about hand hold as it has no IS. This 100 2.8L macro is super sharp, fast auto focus and accurate as well.

Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Fast; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Hand hold with ease; Lightweight; Manual focus feels good; Manual focus override; Nice Bokeh; Rugged; Strong Construction; Very Sharp

This lense has exceeded my expectations. The macro is great, but I was surprised at how awesome it works as a portrait lens as well. Extremely sharp but beautiful bokeh for macro and portraits.

Close up with image stability

This is an excellent lens which offers image stabilisation in two planes to provide a crisp image . Close shooting gives a slightly bigger than full size image on the camera sensor. After checking prices with a number of retailers John Lewis was competetive and the lens was available in store.

Glad I took the plunge!

I've long wanted to get a real macro lens, I have a gamut of other great Canon glass but had always just kind of faked the macro stuff I was shooting. With the Canon spring sale this year, I finally bit and got this 100mm Macro and holy cow!! Talk about an upgrade and some amazing glass!
